Emergency Assistance

Emergency services are provided to individuals and families meeting criteria who are experiencing an unexpected crisis situation. Assistance may vary depending on funding availability and program eligibility requirements.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Picture Identification (driver's license, military ID or passport etc.)

  • Social Security Cards for entire household

  • Proof of income within the last 30 days (pay stubs, printed statement of public benefits, CalWorks Notice of action w/ cash aid and food stamp amount.)

  • If self-employed please provide verification

     

     

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO OUR SERVICE DELIVERY

In order to ensure the safety and health of our clients and staff and to address any concerns about the coronavirus, we are making important changes to the way we deliver our services.

 

Please note that walk-ins are accepted before 4:30pm Monday to Friday at our office located at 696 S. Tippecanoe Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92408-2607.

 

For faster service, you can make an appointment by calling us at 909-723-1558.

 

Emergency Food Boxes will be available to households in need. Please 909-723-1558 so that our team can prepare for you in advance.

Food Assistance is provided in the form of food commodities. Following are the necessary documents to receive services:

  • Photo Identification

  • Proof of residence

 

Each request for food will be evaluated on an individual basis. Clients may receive food assistance monthly.

Transportation Assistance is provided in the form of bus passes, and/or gasoline cards. Following are the conditions that may possibly qualify someone for this service in addition to the general program eligibility requirements:

  • Must provide written proof of appointments (doctor appointments, job search interviews, etc.)

  • Must have proof of an emergency that occurred within the last 30 days.

  • Clients may receive transportation assistance once every 90 days

 

DMV ID Reduced Rate Assistance is a discount voucher that allows clients to receive a reduction on the standard rate for a California Identification Card. (This discount does NOT apply to renewals or CA Driver License).

 

Hygiene Assistance is evaluated on case-by-case bases, upon the nature of the emergency.
