Move Along to Where?

On January 26, 2017, San Bernardino County will conduct it's annual point in time count of the homeless population in this region.

Most news these days points to things improving and a decline in homelessness. But others would argue this is not the case and that the count does not capture the real numbers.

The 2016 count found 1,887 homeless people in the county, with the largest portion (564 people) in the city of San Bernardino itself.

Strategies to helping the homeless vary widely. Studies have shown that the cost of incarcerating the homeless is more than providing shelter and support. Across the nation, different approaches to addressing homelessness are emerging.

One strategy includes policing. Citing tickets, making arrests, clearing out encampments and basically telling people to "move along." This strategy is not new, but some homeless people are asking what about their rights?

What do you think?

Here's a great news article on the subject.
